It’s the perfect combination of creepy indoor areas and training space, pack is easy to get to, all the perks are in convenient locations, and it’s a good old fashioned map where the only real objective is survive as many rounds as you can.

Its mostly down to the fact that the other on-disk options sucked. Five was hard for most players, and Dead Ops Arcade was just… Eh at best. So unless you bought the DLC, this was the only real map you had available, it kidna grew on people in a similar way to stockholm syndrome.
HoldUntilImOld
It’s simple but fun. Has everything it needs and nothing it doesn’t, the perfect amount of challenge imo

I don’t think it’s as overrated anymore which is good. It’s a C tier map at best

It’s nostalgic and easy, which is why many people rate it so high.
blurandgorillaz
It’s basically just another der riese
Gucci9001
Nostalgia, but also good flow, quick setup, a great wonder weapon, good training spots, and one of the best Zombies musical Easter eggs.
Is it the best map ever? Probably not. But it’s still a solid map that you can easily play after a long day of work.

It’s nice and all but it’s so overrated

In black ops it was scary. Bo3 not so much but maybe thats because i played it for the first time on bo1 when i was a kid.

Scary as fuck that’s why

Mainly because it’s a classic, & nostalgic to alot of people including myself. Due to the fact that this was a good percentage of peoples first map they’ve played. I’d say it isn’t overrated.

Moist-Critcal1049
Because it was originally going to be World at War map, but it was decided to be the first Black Ops map instead

You must play the bo1 version to know

I prefer the quest-based maps and so I do think Kino is a bit overrated, but the love for it has many relatively simple explanations, in my opinion. Some have already been touched on in this thread, but others I haven’t seen mentioned include the fact that it was probably several players’ first map, and that it was the first map to introduce several mechanics that became commonplace in Treyarch Zombies, including the smoother knife animation and Quick Revive having a use in single player.
PermabannedX4
The epitome of a B tier map imo.
Salt-Calendar-8824
I think most people think it’s overrated. It was supposed to be a waw map, but then got pushed into bo1. I view it is a worse less innovative der riese.
whocareswerefreaks
I never thought it was great. I found the layout not that cool and the crawlers more annoying than anything.

I’m pretty sure it was the first zombie map played for a very big percentage of the fan base

someone in r/codzombies saying kino is overrated? never happened before
OkNegotiation3236
It’s fine. It fits in and doesn’t go above and beyond. No it’s not overrated if anything just about every conversation about it includes someone saying it’s overrated making it come full circle and become underrated
Like man all of these “kino is overrated” posts are mostly people agreeing. That’s not overrated everyone that likes it says it’s fine not amazing not bad how is that overrated

The best zombies map of all time: Kino der Toten, Black Ops 1.
To me, it’s as good as it gets. It was originally supposed to be in World at War but it was cut due to time constraints. Thankfully, Treyarch was able to finish it up, polish it up, and release it with Black Ops, cause it was good. Really good. So many iconic weapons. Layout was a perfect blend of simple and complex and the enemies were all unique and fun to fight. Plus, Kino had some of the best music in any COD Zombies map ever which made it even more addicting to play through and grind over and over. Call me old school, but I think Kino is the absolute best zombies map ever released and I could play it a million times without ever getting bored.

Definitely over rated. I used to purposely end the game at round 20 or before because I would just get bored.
