I’ve been saying for years we’re already in a cyberpunk dystopia where’s my black leather trench coat, implanted vibro katana, and brain controlled crotch rocket motorcycle???

From the moment I understood the weakness of my flesh, it disgusted me. I craved the strength and certainty of steel. I aspired to the purity of the Blessed Machine. Your kind cling to your flesh, as though it will not decay and fail you.

Transgender women can already get a biotech implant that releases a steady dose of estrogen into our bodies. Transitioning is, in and of itself, a biomod.

We are in a cyberpunk dystopia without all the things that make it cool 😔

We’re on a direct course for a Cyberpunk dystopia. We may not have hard core neon light cities like in blade runner yet, but we still have the key concepts of it. We have the very core concept cyberpunk itself was built of, high tech low life.In places like Rio de Janeiro, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Chongqing or Mumbai, brightly light skyscrapers tower over cramped and crime infested slums. Mumbai is a perfect example of this, it’s one of the worlds leading centres of trade, and has some of the most expensive and wealthiest people in the world. And yet right below that wealth is a mass sprawl of slums. Chongqing and Bangkok especially have cyberpunk vibes.
In the past 30 years technology has grown massively. And so have the corporations, Apple, Microsoft, Nike, Coca Cola. It’s impossible to find a restaurant anywhere in the world that doesn’t sell Coke, or go into the streets and find someone who isn’t using a product by one of major companies, or wearing something by Nike or Addidas.
Tech giants milk you for your data like cattle, they know basically everything about you, and use filthy tactics to bypass the law. They collect data on you and sell it to other companies. And the growth of social media sites such as tiktok, causes people to be forced into an endless cycle of scrolling forever, searching for the next small burst of dopamine endlessly. There’s even significant evidence to suggest that Tiktok is used as Chinese spyware.
That’s not even mentioning the growth of cybernetic healthcare, prosthetics, and political cyberwarfare. Sure, it doesn’t look much like a cyberpunk dystopia, but depending on how we play our cards they’ll be no need for this genre anymore.

If the Neuralink is successful in even a single person, I think we can officially mark the beginning of the Cyberpunk era.

Pretty sure we had people whose bionic eyes stopped working because the company that made them went bankrupt like 2 years ago
