Also, an individual is not only defined by their memories (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Individual?wprov=sfla1). I think you may have meant the perception of self, but even that would be incorrect, as even a person with no memories can still perceive themselves as a separated and unique self.

This is my favorite snippet of dialogue from GOT. I’m glad to see it here.
It’s one of those moments when the kind of insight I get from Jacques Ellul kind of meets Hegel’s phenomenology of the spirit (which, I admit, I haven’t given real attention to, and know mostly from other philosophers talking about).
(And meets, hahaha, of course, robots and cyborgs and AI and good animation, a fun plot, lovable characters, a little of the old ultra-violence, etc.)
