I play Caldera now. Have been for a few weeks. It is a lot of fun even if the map sucks really bad and endgames are often bad spots as well. If you just try to play for kills and not worry about too much about the win it makes it even more fun.

Warzone 1: use to play for hours and hours everyday. Ended up with 2300+ hours played by the time it ended.
Warzone 2: can’t play more than like 2-3 games a day and get bored and shut it off and can go days without playing it.

I tried caldera again for the first time a few nights ago. Oh boy I can’t even explain the excitement I had just killing people in the pre-game lobby.
Edit: it’s telling that I somewhat enjoy caldera (absolute dogshit map tbh) now. WZ2 did it to me.

The “magic” was the pandemic. So many people off work, many areas where all amenities were shut down. That was the secret sauce. WZ came at the perfect time. Now all my winter sports are back in full swing, work is busy, and everyone is scaling back on video games do get out of the house.

I’m having a lot more fun on WZ2 in general than I ever did in WZ1. With that said, Verdansk was a very special map and in the genre of BR I don’t believe any game tops for nostalgia. I prefer WZ2 though

It’ll be extremely hard to recapture the magic of Wz1 early days verdansk a) because it was new b) because it gave us togetherness during a pandemic and c) it was a genuinely great game at the start.
Wz1 was terrible at the end but they havent been able to gwt it back to where it just worked, not even with wz2 or dmz.

I convinced my squad to run shipment last night. Just for a quick paced, change of pace… We had the most fun we have had since rebirth was shut down. We went on an 11 game win streak (some REALLY close matches), I think that might have saved the squad. A couple guys were ready to hang it up. We barely have the energy to play at the end of the week anymore, let alone get stuck watching one guy on our squad try to figure out how to buy us back for 15 mins, just to get stomped again.
I’ve said it before, we all WANT to love this game, but they took everything we loved and told us to like all the stuff we didn’t want in the first place :/ we would settle for ANY resurgence mode… ANYTHING. Just knock it off with the WZ Cup nonsense. Do better.

I’ll never understand why developers find a winning formula and then decide to throw it all away for the next game. All they had to do was release this map with Warzone 1 mechanics and release a new Rebrith map and it would have been exactly what everyone wanted.

I played for 3 weeks then uninstalled. During that time it just felt like I was working a second job except worse. I was constantly working myself up over the God awful design/decisions/bugs/etc etc etc. The entire experience from the moment I boot up into the menu all the way to the end of the game was just horrible. Wether it be the crappy pin system, or the shitty UI – it didn’t matter. These annoyances were EVERYWHERE! I couldn’t escape it, and therefore was always pissed because I expected WAY better from a multi billion dollar company with 3000 “devs”.
Game isn’t even fun either. At least WZ1 was a blast despite all the bullshit activision threw at us (like buffing guns and leaving them OP for months so that people buy them….and then months later after getting their bag, they’ll nerf those guns to the ground). Like there was still a lot of scummy stuff going on, but the game was incredibly fun so I was able to put up with it.
This game though hell no. There is no soul in this game whatsoever. None. Not an ounce of soul. I actually feel disrespected playing this game. Giving my time, energy and attention not because I’m having fun, but because I’m ADDICTED. Because that’s how they intentionally designed their game at the expense of FUN.
For me, fuck that. That is so scum and I’m over it. Been playing WZ1 since. It’s still fun but also old so I play less games (which is a positive) and I also enjoy my time a lot more when I do play. So it’s been a win win.

Can’t get into wz2. It’s a completely different game. I know everyone says to ‘adapt’ but I don’t want to play a game I don’t enjoy. Wz1 hooked me because of how different it was from other BRs. The new movement system, looting, not being able to plate while running, etc is just boring and slow to me. I don’t get why they had to change it so much.
