I’m an older dad and have heard, “are you handicapped or something?” In response to a particularly bad bit of aiming and “you sound like you have a large Adam’s Apple”. The first, I’m just not as fast and accurate as the youngsters and the second… that’s just hilarious.
None of it gets to me… it’s just part of the game, I’m too old to really care and am completely immune to insults from children my son’s age. Though I have asked how old their moms are (or where their mom went to college) and then mentioned that I might know their moms better than they think.

I play a game called For Honor and it gets quite competitive and I had this exact moment, but instead of saying “GGs, bozo!” I asked why he spams “Wow!” in quick chat and this exact thing happened but instead of having to pick up his kids, this guy had lost his job.

I get exactly the same as this but if they ask they soon chill when I tell them I’m a 46yo senior military officer and if they want to try this for real they can sign up.
I get it, these kids are just better than me at the game and I will praise legit skill when they slot me because that is deserved. I just don’t hold with the toxic language and lack of respect for others in what is supposed to be a fun activity, or at least it is for me. However in real world I can hit consistent centre body mass with the issue ar out to 300m, so there’s that

I’m 48, and still enjoy FPS, but def my reaction times aren’t what they were 25 years ago. I just want to come home from teaching 4th graders, grind out some camos or something, and enjoy myself. I’m not terrible, but I’m not amazing either.
I had to turn off voice chat after 2 days because of the crap I was hearing. Wasn’t making me mad or anything, I just couldn’t stand the vitriol.
