You could make this irl pretty easily, use a pressure pad behind the trigger so when you pull it back it reduces a count by one and use a button on or near the display to reset after a reload.
Only issue is this wouldn‘t track removing a round by racking the slide or any other way of discharging other than a trigger pull and wouldn‘t account for things like half used magazines (after a tac reload or something) which is part of the reason tech like this is not used in the military as counting your shots works just as well.
