This MSI Katana gaming laptop now has a solid 15% knocked off its list price and is down to $1869.99 on Amazon, thanks to a recent limited-time deal. What’s curious about this particular model is that, according to pricing history, it’s gone through a sharp increase in price since around May 2026, whereas before, it was much closer to $1,600. Either way, this deal actually does bring it closer to ‘the old days’, and for the price, you’re getting a pretty powerful machine here.
First up, you’ve got an RTX 5070 with 115W TGP. That’s notably high for an RTX 5070 mobile, compared to some of your more budget-friendly RTX 5070 models, like some options from Acer Nitro, for example. It packs 8GB of GDDR7 VRAM and is built on Blackwell architecture. That means you’re getting features like MFG, which help it punch above its weight, and overall improvements to efficiency, ray tracing, and AI capabilities. Can you get cheaper RTX 5070 laptops? Yes, if you shop around, it’s possible, although they may be more one-dimensional in some respects, with less powerful, lower-core-count CPUs.
