hi
i was pushing 530w on my ultra 9 285k daily on my extreme setup for the past 2 months
out of Curiosity i wanted to check the cpu pins / die for any issues ,,, everything was good so far.
the issues started when i reapplied the liquid metal "TG-Conductonaut" with a fresh one from the same type
*2 months ago , the cpu was holding 530w for 1 hour under avx2 stress test via OCCT at 95c,
*idle temp 32c
now after replacing the liquid metal "a complete removal and then added a fresh LM"
*the cpu barely can hold 400w for 5 min under "see" stress test at 95c which hilarious …,
*idle temp r the same which is strange 32c
i did change the liquid metal 5 times assuming that i maybe didn't install the waterblock right and could be the x pattern i didn't follow it correctly ,, i even tried to add too much to too little of the liquid metal to see if that could have been the main cause , but it didn't work either still the same issue remain
so u can say i tried everything possible but it is still the same,
the only difference that i noticed is that the hotest core would change from e core clusters 3
then on the second try p core 23 as an example but in general the temps still way too hot on all cores compared to the time when i did the delid …
my only guessing that it could be the weird stains formed on the water block the issue ?
the direct die water block for some reason formed a rough surface where it touches the cpu die as showing on the picture, no mater how much i wipe it via 99% isopropyl
it wont come off i didnt scrub it tho i dont wanna dammge anything !
for the cpu die it's still shiny but the stains looks under the silicon which i think is normal …
i dont wanna sand any of them via "flitz"
im afraid to ruin the nikle plate surface since it is very delicate ,,, and can come off easily ,,, had that happen on me in the past, so i dont wanna repeat it. unless if necessary and that what u guys all do …
…for the cpu die i already sand it when i did the delid ,so i dont think it would need any… since it is still shiny
*the question is
can the rough surface found on the water block affects temps ,, and be the culprit ??

*worth menting the cpu works fine nothing bad happened to it ,,, it's just the p/e core temps are bad under heavy loads
