The basic version of the application supports 1080p 30 FPS, while the premium version includes 4K 60 FPS.

Asobi: Remote Play recently launched a playtest on Steam. It will allow owners of Steam Deck and Steam Machine (or other Linux-based devices) to stream PlayStation games. The unique feature is that the PlayStation console itself is not required for it to work.

To use the cloud gaming feature, a PlayStation Network account and an active PlayStation Plus Premium subscription are required. Cloud gaming will be available for games from the subscription catalog, as well as suitable digital versions of PlayStation 5 games that the user has in their library (not all games will be streamable).

Inside Internet

Previously, Sony introduced cloud streaming for PlayStation Portal, which allowed PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers to play some PS5 games directly from Sony’s servers, rather than streaming the game from their own PlayStation 5 console.

Asobi: Remote Play essentially extends this functionality to other Linux-based devices.

Asobi: Remote Play is not a Sony project; the developer is the studio “Inside Internet”. They plan to support Windows OS.

Some players fear that lawyers will take notice of the initiative and try to stop its development.
