It’s been 59 long days since Gran Turismo 7’s most recent update. Back then, four of the present-day racing hypercars were added, plus a bonus safety car 911.
For its next onslaught of cars, four ‘niche’ cars (Series Producer Kazunori Yamauchi’s words, not ours) will be added.
Based on the accompanying teaser image, all appear to be road cars, so let’s dive in with the current thinking as to which they are.

Gran Turismo and Korean car brand Hyundai have a prominent relationship, with the Elantra N TCR confirmed during the Gran Turismo World Series World Finals in Japan last year, which followed the Ioniq 5 N electric crossover hatchback.
This time, it appears (back left of teaser) the more aerodynamic Ioniq 6 N will be arriving in Gran Turismo 7.
Sharing the same architecture as the 5 N, the 6 N includes (in the real world, at least) faux gearshifts, which sadly weren’t replicated in GT7 for the 5, at least.
Still, 0- 62 mph in a scant 3.2 seconds isn’t to be sniffed at thanks to twin electric motors and 640bhp.
Caterham Seven
If the BEV saloon wasn’t niche enough for you, how about the two-seater sports car from the Surrey town of the same name?
The bug-eye front is unmistakable despite the dark cloth covering. The British performance vehicle is known for electrifying speed mixed with intense road feedback for the driver, thanks to light weight and direct steering.
There are about six billion different derivations of Seven. All are quick, except for the 160 or 170 models, which used a 660cc Suzuki kei car engine.
It marks a return for the brand to the Gran Turismo series since the Fireblade in Gran Turismo 4, 5 and 6.

Right, now to the really niche.
The right side of the teaser image is a pair of JDM icons, both using the Toyota X100 platform and 1JZ straight-six engine: The Mark II Tourer V and Chaser Tourer V.
Front-engined, rear-wheel drive, and on the used market in the ‘00s, affordable machines with stout engines, ripe for tuning and modifying. We hope the GT Auto options are plentiful and engines can be tuned north of 600bhp when they arrive in Gran Turismo 7.
Gran Turismo World Series 2026 Round 2
The second round of Gran Turismo’s World Series competition will be broadcast on 15th August.
Why is that pertinent? Well, it could determine the release date of this update, which could be unveiled during the event’s stream. Alternatively, this could be a surprise release ahead of the event on Thursday 13th August.
