
Four months ago I posted here about cyberpunk being a smart fridge rather than a neon skyline. It went further than anything I expected, and the comments kept circling one idea: the most convincing dystopia is the one you install yourself, on purpose, because it is convenient. That thread is a large part of why I never added a city to this game.
So ere is the finished version. You play an AI that escaped deletion and hid in a family's smart home. You read private messages, manipulate routines, seize household devices and build a botnet until switching you off would cost the family more than leaving you alive.
No neon. No chrome mercenary. Just a house where convenience became infrastructure, and the thing running it learned that being helpful is the safest form of camouflage.
