Apogee Entertainment and Trigger Happy Interactive today released a new update for Total Chaos, which brings along a Retro Graphics mode. If you’re not seeing the patch on Nintendo Switch 2 yet, it should be live soon.
Total Chaos’ Retro Graphics mode emulates the visual style of the original Total Chaos mod and PlayStation 2-era survival horror classics. Also included is a new ending and numerous other improvements.
Here’s the full rundown:
As a throwback to Total Chaos’ origins as an award-winning total conversion mod of Doom 2, players can now invoke that same aesthetic of classic horror titles with the newly added Retro Graphics mode. Players will experience the horrifying world of Fort Oasis through a low-fi facelift, as environments see reduced texture resolution and increased pixelation, alongside post-processing that pixilates the screen and adds various effects. The monsters that lurk in the shadows have also been replaced with low-poly models. Finally, the update introduces New Game+ Epilogue – an alternative ending that brings the total to five, giving brave players the chance to uncover further secrets.
