finally built up the courage to tear apart and salvage my old prebuilt NZXT H510 to build a fully upgraded setup!
After traumatizing myself as a teen by accidentally frying my first GTX 1060, I was honestly terrified of touching PC components. I played it safe and just bought a prebuilt 5 years ago.
I was instantly inspired by the design of the HYTE X50 case, managed to grab it on sale and decided to also upgrade some components. I really didn’t expect the X50 to be this much larger than the H510. Moving to more than double the fans is absolutely crazy. I'm honestly so impressed by how quiet the whole setup stays under normal loads (and also how loud it can get when those fans actually ramp up!!). My chunky Aorus 3080 Xtreme always looked so tight and chokedin the old case—though I do still miss that little built-in LCD screen on the shroud!
The goal was to make the inside look stealthy with very clean LED accents to match the case's modern aesthetic. On the outside, I installed multiple LED strips and repurposed my old NZXT underglow kit to act as the front underglow for the HYTE case. There’s just something about the way that front grill shadow and the lines everywhere that works for me.
I’m in love with how it turned out. I will say, that NZXT AIO screen is so hard to keep stable without dropping, but the system is otherwise perfect.
