Since late January, Nintendo fans were expecting to see a Nintendo Direct from the Big N.. We got Partner Showcases, Indie World Showcases and even game-specific Directs, but the traditional Nintendo Direct has remained quite elusive. The good news is that rumors point to that Nintendo Direct drought coming to an end soon. (h/t Stealth40k)

On the latest episode of the Giant Bombcast, Nintendo insider Jeff Grubb is saying that a Nintendo Direct is going to happen by mid-June 2026. Grubb doesn’t have specifics on what kind of Direct it will be, but he does assume it will be a traditional one. For those who don’t know, Grubb has been spot-on with a number of Nintendo rumors in the past, so his words do come with some weight to them.

Many Nintendo fans have become accustomed to Nintendo sharing a traditional Nintendo Direct in June. We used to see Nintendo put on big showcases and Directs in June thanks to E3, but even with that show no longer around, Nintendo has still kept up with Directs in June. That said, Nintendo does seem like they’ve been experimenting lately with how they share information, leaving some wondering if traditional Nintendo Directs will becoming a thing of the past. I guess we’ll find out in less than a month!
