Shortly before the launch of Mina the Hollower, Yacht Club’s Sean Velasco talked spoke about a number of topics pertaining to the game, including the price. Many were surprised to see the game set at $20, thinking it would be more expensive. According to Velasco, the team had priced the game to sell, saying they wanted to move a lot of copies. Now we have even more insight into the game’s pricing as well as overall sales goals.
In an interview with Bloomberg, Velasco once again spoke about landing on the $20 price for Mina the Hollower. According to Velasco, the team wanted people to see the price and jump on a purchase, rather than waiting for a sale.
“Everyone (at Yacht Club) came in ready to say, ‘I want the game to be $20. We don’t want people to wait (for a discount, since) we only get one chance at this.”

Just how many units does Yacht Club want Mina the Hollower to move in order to be a success? It seems the studio has some lofty goals, with Velasco saying that if Mina the Hollower doesn’t sell “a million copies,” he’s “going to be disappointed.”
At last official check-in in 2019, we learned that Shovel Knight had sold 2.6 million copies across all platforms combined. There’s no doubt the tally has ticked higher since then, and you’d have to imagine the game has reached somewhere over 3 million by now. With the hype behind Mina the Hollower, including it landing as the best-reviewed game of 2026 so far, you’d have to think that a million sold for the title would be an achievable goal. Hopefully we get some official sales insight soon that shows the game is well on its way to that milestone.
