A new story is brewing in the Tavern Talk universe. Developer Gentle Troll has announced that Tavern Talk Stories: Dreamwalker will launch on 9 June for PC and Mac via Steam, as well as Nintendo Switch.
Set decades before the original Tavern Talk, this standalone title introduces a fresh cast of characters and a new story to uncover.
A New Story In A Familiar World
Tavern Talk Stories: Dreamwalker takes place 36 years before the events of Tavern Talk. You step into the role of a tavernkeep at the Drowsy Dragon, a cosy seaside tavern in a quiet port town.
Here, you meet a range of visitors, from mercenaries to sailors and adventurers. Each brings their own personality and story, and your choices help shape how their journeys unfold.

Mix Drinks And Shape Destinies
At the heart of the game is your ability to mix magical drinks. These are more than simple refreshments, as they can influence your patrons’ fates.
Alongside this, you gather rumours while working behind the bar. These snippets of information can then be turned into quests, giving your guests a direction and purpose.
With multiple ways to approach each situation, your decisions can lead to different outcomes.
A Cozy Visual Novel With More Depth
Building on the style of the original game, Tavern Talk Stories: Dreamwalker blends visual novel storytelling with interactive mechanics. The drink mixing and quest creation systems have been refined to add a little more challenge while staying accessible.
The setting draws inspiration from tabletop role-playing games, offering a colourful cast and plenty of small stories to explore.
The game offers at least 10 hours of gameplay for a first playthrough. Along the way, you will work towards one of three different endings as you try to prevent dreams from turning into nightmares.
This adds a sense of replayability, especially if you want to see how different choices affect the outcome.
As a standalone entry, you can jump in without playing the original Tavern Talk, though returning players may enjoy seeing how the wider world connects. Anyway, we loved the original Tavern Talk, as you can read in Mina’s review here.
