The ROG Xreal R1 comes with a console-switching dock and 240Hz refresh rate.
ASUS and Xreal’s new gaming display glasses called the ROG Xreal R1 are now open for preorder, and they are set to arrive later this year.
It is an upgrade to Xreal’s first display glasses, which were made available last year.
ASUS, Xreal’s R1 Gaming Display Glasses Open Preorder
ASUS announced that the ROG Xreal R1 glasses are now available for preorder at Best Buy, and they will also be sold through the XREAL’s website starting May 17.
The ROG Xreal R1 first raised eyebrows at CES 2026 because of its 0.55-inch micro-OLED displays with a maximum brightness of 700 nits, which feature a 240Hz refresh rate and an ultra-fast 0.01ms response time. To put that in perspective, most AR glasses today max out at a 120Hz refresh rate.
The ROG Xreal R1 creates a 171-inch virtual screen using micro-OLED panels at 1080p.
The glasses weigh just 91 grams and connect to devices using USB-C or through the ROG hub. With a 57-degree field of view, they are said to cover 95% of the human focus area. Audio is handled by Bose-tuned onboard speakers.
Is the New ROG Xreal R1 Gaming Glasses Worth It?
The headline feature driving the $849 price is the 240Hz refresh rate, which is double what standard Xreal glasses offer, paired with the bundled ROG Control Dock.
The dock lets you switch between three connected devices—two via HDMI 2.0 and one through DisplayPort 1.4—so with the push of a button, you could flip between a console, PC, and more.
That convenience comes at a cost, though. Spec for spec, the Xreal R1 and the Xreal One Pro are largely the same outside of the refresh rate and the slightly more gamer-oriented design. The One Pro retails at $599, making the R1 $250 more expensive than its sibling.
The ROG Xreal R1 is said to reach its peak potential when paired with the ROG Ally handheld console. For everyone else, the value depends on how much the 240Hz jump and multi-console dock feature matter to them personally.
The glasses and the Control Dock are not sold separately, so the $849 price covers both items together.
