Hi everyone, two months ago I posted a “new to RAM overclocking” post and have since given it another go from scratch, taking some of the feedback I received.
So, yes, this is another one of “those” posts asking for any additional feedback or areas I could improve. In general, tending toward a blend of reliable stability and thermals over aggressive benchmarking.
My system:
-9800X3D
-ASRock X870E Taichi
-64 GB (2x 32 GB) G.Skill Trident Z5 Neo RGB 6000 MT/s CL30
Some general stability comments and observations:
-ECLK set to 101.87, resulting in boost clock of ~5.525 GHz with a +200 MHz PBO OC, and ~5.460 GHz all core effective (BCLK still 100.0)
-PBO: Multiplier 3x, +200MHz. Motherboard limits.
-With the timings and voltages in the screenshot, I appear to be stable after:
2x 12+ hour runs of CoreCycler with Prime95, and 2x 12+ hour runs with Ycruncher
3x 30-minute runs of R23 (scoring ~23,500-23,600 multi)
1x 1-hour run each combination of OCCT MEM+CPU settings (normal, extreme, variable, steady, etc) and a 1-hour run of Memory only.
24-hour run of MemTestPro
Assorted Time Spy runs
-These tests usually result in RAM heating to no higher than ~50-54C
-At stock EXPO settings, nudging MCLK to even 3033 at up to 1.31 VSOC, leads to restarts or freezes with R23. I found this odd, since multiple sites say 6200 should be relatively easy unless you have a trash motherboard or kit. I don’t want to risk heat impacts/gradual degradation, especially in this market, so I don’t want to go really any higher on the VSOC chasing MCLK. Guess maybe I just have a garbage kit perhaps.
-I’m able to run 2133 MHz FCLK though, which seems to knock about 2 ns off latency from Aida64 benchmarking and increases memory read by about 5000 MB/s. 2166 FCLK seems to black screen or restart. Though, if this is truly detrimental given MCLK/UCLK is 3000, please give me that criticism.
-Curve optimizer negative offsets are: 22/9/21/19/20/9/20/17.
-Cores 1 and 5 are my #1 performing according to HWinfo64 – an offset of 10 or below seems to freeze the system during R23.
-Lowering VDDG IOD or CCD any further seems to black screen several hours into CoreCycler.
Would love to get this community’s feedback on any other improvements (timings, voltages, etc) again. Thank you so much in advance! I’ve learned a lot from this group.
