Ludum Dare caretaker Mike Kasprzak announced the news in a detailed blog post, confirming plans for six more events over the next three years, followed by a possible encore one in April 2029. However, the October 2028 edition will be the final scheduled event. After that, Ludum Dare might return “as needed”.
In 2025, Ludum Dare canceled its scheduled events with Mike Kasprzak explaining that he needed to take a break. In a new post, Kasprzak shared about his frustration and struggles with job hunting over the past year, which has understandably taken up much of his focus, and thanked the community for their support during that time.
