Each Phantom Liberty ending, as well as their corresponding tarot cards, represent not only their respective corresponding characters, but the different styles of V the player can encompass as well.

King of Wands represents one of an aspiring leader that radiates inspiration to their allies. They’re devoted to their ideals and principles, knowing they will cross any line and make sacrifices to see their goals through to the end and maintain those principles even when not to their benefit. In this case, V has to sacrifice both their own opportunity for a cure and Reed’s life, who stands in their way of achieving that goal. This encompasses both Reed as a character and V’s conviction in this ending.

King of Cups represents a strong, emotionally-driven individual who navigate their lives through intuition. “When fate falls in their favor, compassion guides their actions.” In this sense, the card represents Songbird, but it also represents a V that, while having initially betrayed Song, ultimately reacts out of compassion and empathy after witnessing Song’s memories and ends up granting her wish, even when it blows their own chance. It also mentions it is unwise to trust that someone when fate ISN’T in their favor, because as we know Song is lying to V the entire time when her fate is primarily in their hands.

King of Swords represents one who is a voice of reason and relies on logic and conviction, but above all else, WILL punish deception and betrayal, acting on impulsively rather than rationality. “A ruthless opponent who will not rest until you are punished and left to be torn apart by hounds of fate.” Best represents one who may side with Song out of logic and seeing reason in her situation, but WILL punish her in the end when she reveals the truth of her betrayal. “The King of Swords sees clearly and is a strong voice of reason. But when emotions run high, even reason can’t always rise above the jazz.”

King of Pentacles represents one who embodies pragmatism and, above all else, prioritizes their benefit over all other concerns. “From such a person one can except coldness or attachment to material possessions.” This ending and card best represents Rosalind Myers, but also a V who will play through that route and still hand Song over in spite of her history and suffering, and knowing it emboldens the rule of the powerful as long as they get their piece of the pie.

Clearly Wands is the most preferred interpretation as that is what’s most popular, but this all maked perfect sense when observing over a scope of the endings and personally dictates which “King” your V represents.
