For the last 2+ years, I've been using a Husky Tools Adjustable Height Black Workbench Table with a 6ft counter as the desktop — and lately, I've been seeing some amazing posts here with sit/stand desks that look under 5 ft in width. It's got me thinking if I should downsize, and reorganize my desk to feel more cozy and functional.

So for anyone with a smaller / mid-size desk, what are the pros and cons for you and your setup? Do you wish you had a larger surface to use? And same for folks with a large desk; do you ever wonder the same as I am now; does a smaller desk seem appealing?

Current Desk – Pros and Cons:

Pros

  • It fits literally everything.
  • It's sturdy af; I have 2 ergotron monitor arms on the back edge, and an elgato low-profile mic arm on the front left – and the surface is stable, never wobbles, and could likely handle even more — but I have no idea what else that would be.
  • The bench is on casters, so its easy to move around when I need to change things or do cable management.

Cons

  • This thing is MASSIVE; and my wife has her own 6 ft desk off to my right, with an ikea drawer unit on casters between us; so it feels like our space is just dominated by desks and office furniture.
  • The stand function is improbable to ever use; it uses a little hand crank, and became my counter top is so much wider and deeper than the original 2'x4' surface, its almost impossible to crank properly — so it stays at a stationary height.

Any feedback and thoughts would be welcome.
