PMDG has shared new information and a brand new video on its upcoming 737-700 and the visual updates it will bring with it. Plus, we get information on the expected timeline for the other variants to also receive their visual overhaul.
When PMDG released the 737 Series onto Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 late last year, they opted not to include a new visual model with it, citing that doing so would’ve delayed the product. They instead wanted to ensure that simmers could spend their holiday season flying the 737 in the new simulator and would provide an update for customers to experience the new visuals for the cockpit, externals and cabin.
Yesterday, we shared some new images for the cabin itself, and today, PMDG released a full trailer showcasing the many differences the update will bring. PMDG is dubbing this update as the “High Detail Update” and claims that there are new and interesting details in almost every part of the 737. Every element of the 737’s modelling and texturing has been updated.
Taking advantage of the MSFS 2024, PMDG says they have placed tens of thousands rivets, screws, and fasteners, alongside improved skin mapping and enhanced modelling and animation of equipment hatches and external controls. Updates also include refined ground equipment and animations, as well as improvements to doorways, cargo holds, cabin interiors, cockpit, landing gear, gear bays, engines, and lighting.
PMDG 737-700 Release Date
PMDG has confirmed that the PMDG 737-700 for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 will release on April 9th 2026, and that includes this High Detail Update. Following on from that, the remaining variants will then enter a period of testing before being updated and released.
It has been confirmed that the 737-600 will be the first, followed by the 737-900 and then lastly the 737-800. The -600 version is already in testing, and PMDG expects the 737-900 will enter testing on Monday and then the final variant not long after.
