Last week, I was low on new releases for your perusal, but today the situation is quite the opposite. To send you wishes for a happy Easter, in fact, there are plenty of new RPG releases from late March through early April 2026.
So, besides looking for chocolate bunnies, there are a lot of strategy-focused titles, though not all are, as well as straight-up RPGs, plus quite a few JRPG-style, or at least inspired, JRPGs to look for. Wishing you a happy Easter and happy gaming.
Xenonauts 2 (Out of E.A.)
Developers: Goldhawk Interactive
Platforms: PC
Release Date: April 2, 2026
Steam Page

Xenonauts 2 was released from Early Access, and this was the end of a long development cycle, which included a 1.0 Full Launch and Major Update.
The new version of the game retains all the elements of the older versions, where players control a covert international military force that is engaged in a battle against extraterrestrial invaders, using ground combat, base building globally, managing their air assets, researching new technology, and conducting a broader strategic simulation of asymmetric warfare.
Xenonauts 2 stands out in how little the game has softened that formula. Soldiers are disposable. Missions can quickly become disastrous. And although what occurs on the battlefield will play a role in shaping the overall direction of the campaign, so too does your ability to plan strategically and manage the day-to-day logistics of operating a long-term campaign.
For players who have historically preferred the harder, systems-driven aspects of squad-level tactics, Xenonauts 2 has consistently sought to carry forward the “spirit” of classic X-COM.
Lost Flame (Out of E.A.)
Developers: Bartosz Bojarowski
Platforms: PC
Release Date: March 28, 2026
Steam Page

I think Lost Flame is another example of an indie title that came into the world under the radar, only to be released after being in early access for a while; however, this release definitely merits some attention from those looking to play older-style roguelikes.
Lost Flame entered Early Access back in August of 2019 (and thus ended a lengthy early access experience) on March 28th of 2026. As such, it had been in development for years prior to its launch, specifically to add polish, lore work, and ultimately, create one last major update that would allow Lost Flame to be viewed as complete.
It provides a modern roguelike featuring procedurally generated maps and content, as well as turn-based gameplay with permadeath.
Tide Of Tactics (Demo)
Developers: Lyrical Games
Platforms: PC
Release Date: 2026
Steam Page

First demo of this April recap is Tide Of Tactics, a relatively new demo for a game that has the look and feel of a well-organized, easy-to-read take on traditional turn-based strategy set in medieval times.
The underlying concept behind the gameplay is straightforward yet effectively so. A player chooses their commander and faction, and engages in combat on grid-based battlefields.
It seems as though terrain (obstacles), unit matchups, and control of positioning will play the largest role in determining how successful each side is during battle, with a win condition that involves conquering all castles on the battlefield before the end of the battle.
The current version of the demo contains three different demo maps, three playable commanders out of the intended nine, and an optional tutorial available from the main menu. This should provide you with enough information to determine if the commander-based structure and flow of battles are worthy of your attention until the full game arrives later in 2026.
Stellar Tactics (Out of E.A.)
Developers: Don Wilkins
Platforms: PC
Release Date: March 30, 2026
Steam Page

Stellar Tactics has finally exited early access. The long run started when it first debuted on Steam on September 22, 2016. In comparison to other games in this genre, Stellar Tactics stands apart because of its unique blend of squad-based tactics and an entirely open world experience.
A good example of how it will continue to allow players to use their creativity in all areas of gameplay includes: the same land battles as before, but also an even larger area for space travel and exploration (not just pre-determined routes), as well as fully customizable characters with thousands of options.
The game’s design is also so large in scale, that you have over 240 perk choices with up to 40 ship customizations. The universe is also very large, allowing players to explore many different planets and systems.
Genkai: Primal Awakening
Developers: Mega Game Studios
Platforms: PC
Release Date: April 3, 2026
Steam Page

In Genkai: Primal Awakening, you have the ability to grow your player experience in terms of both your creatures and cards. It will probably do well for those players who are looking for a good way to have both decks and creatures develop over time in the same way.
This may also offer something more progressive than a game based purely on runs that has little long-term value past the combat loop.
Additionally, Genkai: Primal Awakening was released on April 2, and it fits within the general category of rogue deck builders with a higher emphasis on developing teams rather than other small card battler games.
Breath of Fire IV
Developers: CAPCOM, GOG
Platforms: PC
Release Date: April 2, 2026
Steam Page

Breath of Fire IV is probably the biggest release of the week because it represents a large scale return of a major turn-based JRPG on modern PC in a more user-friendly way.
It launched on Steam on April 1, 2026; and it had previously returned to PC via GOG (as part of the GOG Preservation program) on April 25, 2025. Although both of these releases are related to a larger revival of Breath of Fire IV, the launch on Steam has bigger implications due to visibility issues; specifically, the modernized upgrades were developed in cooperation with GOG and will be available in all future PC versions of the game.
Breath of Fire IV is easily recommended because it retains so much of the late-era JRPG identity that so many gamers have been missing.
Capcom’s original breathes life into Ryu and Fou-Lu as they go on separate yet intertwining storylines; It also contains the traditional battle system featuring Dragon Transformation and combo abilities; and now comes equipped with some very useful modern enhancements such as a DirectX renderer upgrade, new display options, the restoration of environmental audio, better keyboard/mouse support, and crash, cutscene and task-switching fixes.
SoulStream Saga: Chapter 1 (Demo)
Developers: AFTER1MAGE 1NTERACTIVE
Platforms: PC
Release Date: TBA
Steam Page

The indie JRPG SoulStream Saga: Chapter 1 is currently live on Steam for a free playable demo. If this was not already apparent from the title, it is most definitely an homage to those who are looking back fondly at the graphics style and structure of the traditional JRPGs from the latter half of the 1990s and into the early 2000s.
While presented as a retro-style 2D pixel art RPG, what really drives home the game’s core design is the Shared ATB (Active Time Battle) combat system. This design element places a significant amount of emphasis on timing, interrupting enemy abilities, and managing your elemental stances.
This demo serves as a prologue to the full story and creates a starting point where the player begins with the protagonist, Astarius, at max level and all of his skills/magic available immediately, thus allowing the player to fully explore and experience the combat system at its highest capacity.
The full game has no release date yet, but it will feature three active combatants in each encounter, seven total recruitable party members, over 40 hours of narrative content, skill tree progression for each individual character, and several additional non-combat related activities such as fishing, treasure hunting, and a collectible trading card game.
BLOODLETTER (E.A.)
Developers: ALDAMAMI GAMES
Platforms: PC
Release Date: March 30, 2026
Steam Page

Players take the role of a Medieval Barber Surgeon in BLOODLETTER, a Deck Builder influenced by Tarot, Folk Superstition, and Brutal Period Medicine Practices.
Players have to defend a strange Village from Ancient Corrupting Entities with Cards, UI Art, and general Presentation all reflect the Cruelty and Dread associated with Historical Healing Methods such as Bloodletting and Trepanation.
The above Pitch does not represent the potential of the Build. The Developers indicate that the current E.A. build is large enough to be considered substantial for an Early Access Release and it includes a Tutorial, Two Entities (across Three Difficulty Settings), 76 Unique Cards, Eight Transmitters, Eleven Villagers, over One Hundred Story Snippets.
The Full Version is intended to include more Content/Features and expand upon the Structure that exists at the time of Early Access.
SPARK IGNITES (E.A.)
Developers: Ignicorvus Studios
Platforms: PC
Release Date: April 2, 2026
Steam Page

Another interesting JRPG this week is SPARK IGNITES, which enters Early Access. It’s a pixel-based story-driven fantasy RPG and uses the format to tell the story of two orphaned siblings, Ash & Clover, as they find out what really happened with the Star Gods’ Blessing, with choices that will shape the ending scenarios.
Their Early Access has about ten hours of gameplay, including: character development; combat (including enemy AI); exploration; progress through the storyline; and the early access version is currently the “Main Gameplay Loop”.
Integrity (Demo)
Developers: DawnDuck
Platforms: PC
Release Date: Jun 22, 2026
Steam Page

Integrity is one of this week’s new demos, and it appears that it will be a tactics-type game with emphasis on constraints. It was launched on March 31, 2026.
The main concept behind it is that all three types of action (movement, attack, reposition, and retreating) utilize the same stamina resource. Therefore, at least some aspect of decision-making on every turn will involve a choice of whether to advance your position and/or strike at your opponent(s), maintain a safe distance in order to retain resources, or attempt to exert some degree of influence over the map.
Another core pillar aspect is that all allies and enemies will operate under similar limitations of what they can see; walls may either serve as barriers to protect units or isolate them and the game also ties advancement through leveling up and increasing skill level directly to acquiring new skills based upon performing certain actions or meeting certain criteria. For sure, one you might want to try.
Aether & Iron
Developers: Seismic Squirrel, Chaos Theory Games
Platforms: PC
Release Date: March 31, 2026
Steam Page

One of the most anticipated RPGs of the year was released this week. I’m talking about Aether & Iron, an RPG set in a world that has been shaped in part by Anti-Gravity Aether Technology in an alternate 1930s New York City, where you play Smuggler Gia.
This Deco Punk Narrative RPG uses Crew Management, Story Choice, and Tactical Turn-Based Vehicular Combat centered around Armed Vehicle Encounters fought on a Grid System.
The overall gameplay includes Visual Novel Style Storytelling, Skill Checks, and Underworld Smuggling in a Floating City, which is riddled with Class Tension and Unrest. As such, it provides a unique Identity to Aether & Iron. Here you can find my preview of the game.
Legends of the Round Table
Developers: Artifice Studio
Platforms: PC
Release Date: March 31, 2026
Steam Page

The most obvious thing about Legends of the Round Table, which has been released for PC is that it is attempting to be authentically medieval in both presentation and content.
Instead, Artifice Studio is presenting it as “an authentically medieval” turn-based RPG, using actual medieval stories in its quests, hand-drawn visuals similar to those found in illuminated manuscripts, and using music composed in the 13th century using historical instrumentation.
Because of this angle, I think the game will have a lot clearer identity than the typical Arthurian fantasy retellings we are used to seeing.
The tactical aspect includes elements such as cavalry charging on lances, squire use as a way to switch between weapons, dueling honorably (and then being able to take prisoners and ransom them), all of which point to a combat system designed around reflecting the knightly warfare of chivalry and the noble courts. If you want, there’s also a demo available in order to test it before buying it.
Revenge of the Firstborn (Demo)
Developers: Sawtooth Games
Platforms: PC
Release Date: TBA
Steam Page

Revenge of the Firstborn joins the pack with the Steam demo of their new CRPG, which launched a few hours ago.
It will be the most well-rounded first look at what seems to be a true CRPG fan’s dream; a story-rich tactical turn-based RPG using the Classic 3.5 D&D Ruleset. The demo is a fully playable, self-contained experience where you can create your own party (at level 5) and play through a unique scenario centered around the lorekeeper organization and their hunt for knowledge associated with a deadly Vampire and the Mysterious “First Born”.
The Full Game promises to be one of the most authentic digital implementations of 3.5 style combat, including mounted warfare, more than 300 Spells, over 120 Monsters, and Reactive Enemy AI.
Granser – Act 1
Developers: Steve Gal
Platforms: PC
Release Date: April 3, 2026
Steam Page

Granser – Act 1 is another indie JRPG just released that aims to bring a little more oomph to its combat by introducing timing elements on each turn, which defines how the fight goes, depending on how well-timed your moves are.
The first act appears to be quite long on its own as far as story goes – at least 13 chapters worth of content. It also has some pretty cool side-quests in addition to being more substantial than many games have as their initial prologues.
But it’s not just about battles; in fact, Granser features real-time airship battles and even a weather-driven overworld filled with trade routes, air traffic, dynamic events, and even other things you can do, such as monster hunting and mini-games.
