LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — A hearing scheduled on Friday could determine whether Kalshi will be barred from operating in Nevada as state gaming regulators seek to stop the online prediction platform from doing business in the state.

The Nevada Gaming Control Board is seeking an injunction against Kalshi. The Las Vegas Review-Journal reported the hearing is happening in Carson City.

The hearing comes after a district court judge in Carson City issued a temporary restraining order last month preventing Kalshi from operating in Nevada. That order is set to expire today.

Nevada gaming regulators argue that Kalshi should be regulated like sportsbooks. Kalshi, however, says it operates more like a stock market and is not subject to gaming regulations.
