TL;DR My 5080 is in RMA so I pulled my GTX 680 Classified out of retirement because after two weeks of participating in life, I need to game.

It’s been two and a half weeks since I put my 5080 in for RMA after experiencing an arc flash within the cooler but not on the PCB, then getting fan shut down and the blinking white light of death at the power input.

Still had display but GPU was essentially in limp mode without the fan input detected.

I honestly thought I could tough it out. I’ve touched ALL the grass, I’ve watched more Netflix and Prime than I care to admit. Hell, I even went to the shopping centre and mingled with other humans a few times.

But the itch that is gaming, could not be satisfied by these activities.

It was poor timing, had the RMA happened a few weeks earlier I’d still have my 3060ti. But alas, I used it for a DDR4 build to sell so that I could get rid of some of my spare parts that were consuming too much room in the cupboard..(according to the missus).

There was one build I couldn’t bring myself to sell due to nostalgia, my first PC build ever. It was a DDR3 build with a Asus P8Z77-V PRO and 4gb EVGA GTX 680 Classified. It gave me such great times, so when I moved on to DDR4 I broke it down and kept the parts.

So today that GTX 68O classified came out of retirement and is now part of my 9800X3D build until the 5080 returns so I can finally scratch that itch.

Looking forward to some old school FPS suggestions if you have any. I’m going to hit up some old early COD campaigns, Doom and unreal tournament if it’s still active.

It’s driving 3440x1440p resolution so I need to be realistic about what it can play. 🤙
