Still no release date for her yet, but she can fly

It’s only been a few weeks since Alex released in Street Fighter 6 alongside the big balance update, but we’re already getting to see what’s coming next for the game.

Capcom just dropped the official teaser trailer for Ingrid to close out Street Fighter 6 Season 3.

After seemingly (though not really) deviating the style of Alex’s teaser, it appears Capcom has gone back to the old formula here to introduce Ingrid.

That means the teaser is mostly Ingrid’s World Tour introduction cutscene like the other previous DLC characters.

Judging from her dialogue, it sounds like Capcom is going with the story approach that Ingrid is from a different world or dimension compared to the rest of the cast.

We can also surmise that the World Tour character makes contact to the mysterious being after finding something called a “Monoid,” which looks like a small doll dressed up like the fighter.

Ingrid is shown flying, shattering dimensional walls and opening a door to another world, so they’re certainly keeping the mystical and celestial aspects of her character.

As for her story in Street Fighter 6, it’s still hard to say what decision Capcom is going for here considering she’s been different in each of the previous games Ingrid appeared in (or was supposed to).

We previously discussed Ingrid’s plot in Street Fighter Alpha 3 Max and the other Capcom crossovers though they could go an entirely other direction now.

Originally, Ingrid was meant to debut in the 3D Capcom Fighting All-Stars, which was ultimately canceled, but it seems the developers liked her design so much that they kept her around.

They made a 2D sprite for Ingrid in Capcom Fighting Evolution, serving as her official debut, where she was also a sub-boss in Arcade Mode though her background was left a mystery.

Street Fighter Alpha 3 Max then brought her in and connected her to Psycho Power with M. Bison implied to have stolen his source of energy from her / her kind.

Ingrid’s Capcom Fighters Network profile, however, threw that out and went back to something closer to All-Stars where she is part of a group called the Natural Code as a Code Holder — but there’s no indication of if they’ll stick with that setup or not.

There is one point of interest besides the dimension shattering / hopping in her trailer with Ingrid referring to the player as a “Terran”, which is likely to have some connection along with her new Monoid.

Since she was in Alpha 3 Max, it can be argued that Ingrid was already a “Street Fighter character,” but Street Fighter 6 marks her debut on the main roster (though still as DLC).

Capcom doesn’t seem to be treating her like a guest fighter as they did with Terry Bogard and Mai Shiranui at least so far.

There is no gameplay included here, so we don’t yet know what she is actually going to look like in action compared to her few other appearances.

No release date was given either with them leaving the end of Season 3 designated still with a “late Spring” window.
