Due to the very nature of the genre, it’s almost impossible to create a perfectly balanced fighting game that’s also fun. To some extent, developers always have to sacrifice balance in order to better promote individual character traits and unique playstyles.

Of course, some characters end up going too far in how they break the balance of the fighting games that they reside in. While this has become less common with today’s modern fighting games, there are still a few interesting cases of some fighters just being blatantly more powerful than the rest of the roster.

Jmcrofts recently released a new video that talks about some of the most broken combatants across all fighting games. Tiers range from “Kusoge” (strong due to horrible design) to “Almost Balanced.”

Ivan Ooze from Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Fighting Edition might just be the most busted concept of a character ever fabricated for a fighting game. His inability to block might seem like a massive handicap at first, but his ability to break out of hit stun with attacks that make him invulnerable completely trivialize fighting game fundamentals.

Ned Flanders from The Simpsons Wrestling is also absurd thanks to his ability to revive automatically after being knocked out and for free, but only once in a match. This alone gives him twice the amount of vitality compared to everyone else, but he’s also armed with other broken quirks that just push him over the edge.

There’s also a lot that can be said about Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo’s Akuma, Super Smash Bros. Brawl’s Meta Knight, Sailor Uranus from Sailor Moon S, Soul Calibur 5’s Hilde and more.
