The Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection was shaping up to be the definitive way to experience all of the classic-era fighting games in one place, and despite a number of issues at launch, it largely started to live up to that after a handful of updates.

Digital Eclipse just released a new update today for the Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection, which brings even more features and fixes, along with the promise of the most requested feature being finally fulfilled.

For this patch, the developers are expanding the options for the Online Arcade lobby mode in a few ways that will help out players more.

Now, users can create private room codes as well as sort lobbies by connection strength, which is a bit weird that stuff wasn’t there before since players already had to wait for the feature in the first place.

They’re also expanding the Fixed AI Difficulty option that was previously only available for the arcade games to all of the SNES, Genesis and 32X versions of the Mortal Kombat ports to control how difficult the opponents are.

On top of that, more Krypt Kontent has been added as well as performance improvements for titles like Mortal Kombat Trilogy and bug fixes.

But the most impactful thing of all is Digital Eclipse confirming that cross-platform play will finally be coming to the collection, which fans have been asking for since the title was announced.

“And we’re not done yet! We’re continuing to work on more improvements for Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection, and when they’re ready for release, we’ll let everyone know — but we can confirm that Krossplay is coming in the next update. Fans will be able to fight with friends playing on different consoles and PCs later this Spring. Thank you for your continued support!”

They don’t state when the next update will be released beyond the Spring window and if it’ll work for all systems like the Nintendo Switch, but we’ll find out more in the near future.
