Sony Interactive Entertainment has closed Dark Outlaw Games, a studio led by Call of Duty veteran Jason Blundell it established in March 2025, according to a report from Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier.
Before Dark Outlaw Games’ establishment, Blundell co-founded Deviation Games, an independent studio that was working with Sony Interactive Entertainment on a new intellectual property—but was shut down in March 2024 following Blundell’s exit in September 2022. in December 2023, it was revealed that Blundell had been working for Sony Interactive Entertainment.
According to ResetEra’s J-Soul, who broke the story ahead of Schreier, Dark Outlaw Games was still in the early stages of its first project. It is unclear how many staff were employed by the studio.
Outside of Dark Outlaw Games, Sony Interactive Entertainment is making other cuts, including in mobile games development, with around 50 staff affected, according to Schreier. J-Soul added that these cuts are an effort to move away from the mobile market, while still supporting previously announced titles like MLB The Show Mobile and Ratchet & Clank: Ranger Rumble.
