I’m gonna say something that a lot of streamers and content creators clearly don’t get… Modern Warfare 2019 wasn’t just “another cod” for a lot of us. During lockdown, the working class wasn’t out here grinding 8–12 hours for content or worrying about views — we were stuck at home, stressed, uncertain about life, jobs, money… everything. And that game became an escape. Same goes for students. I was one of them. Schools shut down, routines gone, everything flipped upside down overnight. And what did we have? A well balanced game (imo), warzone, verdansk, AX-50 on shoot house, like we had it pretty good. That wasn’t just a game, that was where most of us went. Always had late night sessions with friends because nobody had anywhere to be the next day, running squads on warzone for hours , actually getting better over time, having something consistent when life wasn’t
And yeah, maybe streamers got burnt out, but they had to sit their all day for content on the same game for like what? 2 years??? I get that can be bad. Jev for example made himself sick of that game for getting obsidian camo for every weapon, gross. I love Jev but i cannot level with him on what he said in his last video (i'll drop a link).
But for most of us that game felt different. I'm not blinded by nostalgia, i'm blinding on how well that game felt on a controller and a Xbox One. Guns, hitmarkers, movement, it was so freaking juicy.
What frustrates me is seeing creators try to rewrite the narrative now like it was some bad game. Nah.
MW2019 was one of the best Cods ever made — not just because of mechanics, but because of what it meant to people during that time. You can’t measure that with KD ratios or content fatigue. So yeah… call it nostalgia if you want. I miss talking with those friends who act like they don't know each other now.
