Minecraft Dungeons, the most successful Minecraft spin-off, is getting a sequel that will launch later this year.

Minecraft Dungeons is an action-adventure game inspired by classic dungeon crawler video games. It was released in 2020 and has been played by more than 25million gamers, making it the most popular Minecraft spin-off so far.

On Saturday night (March 22), Mojang Studios confirmed that Minecraft Dungeons 2 will be released later this year for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, PC and Xbox Game Pass.

“The next chapter of Minecraft Dungeons begins in the fall of 2026,” read a press release. “A new threat stirs, ready to descend upon the land and its inhabitants to cause unspeakable mayhem. Become a hero and take on foes unlike anything you’ve faced before, journey through long‑forgotten locations, and clash with the forces of evil once more!”

“Return to the world of Minecraft Dungeons in an all new action RPG adventure, brimming with high stakes encounters, thrilling challenges, and never before seen locations, as you set out to save a world in crisis. Will you and your allies prevail against the forces of evil and save the day once more?”

Mojang has also unveiled plans for the world’s first Minecraft theme park. Minecraft World will open at Chessington World Of Adventures next year and feature a number of themed attractions including “a thrilling world first coaster, interactive adventures, epic block built playscapes, and themed retail and dining.”

As part of the development, Merlin Entertainments and Mojang Studios have collaborated with “a selection of iconic Minecraft creators to help bring the universe to life in the most authentic way possible.” The Minecraft World groundbreaking event featured streamers LDShadowLady, DanTDM, Aimsey and Grian.
