Alex has joined the roster of Street Fighter 6 alongside a new balance patch that applied adjustments for every character. Within the World Tour mode, Alex is referred to as the “Man with No Allies,” hinting at his heel turn within the wrestling ring.

Ironically enough, it would seem that longtime Street Fighter fans are also treating Alex as a heel due to how events play out in the World Tour and his arcade mode playthrough. By diving into his story, fans eventually learn that Alex ends up marrying Patricia, whom he is also expecting a daughter with.

At a young age, Alex lost his parents, though the definitive event that resulted in this is never elaborated on. Regardless, a friend of the family, Tom, ends up becoming an important father figure for Alex in order to help him with growing up.

To begin Street Fighter 3’s story, Tom gets seriously injured at the hands of Gill, the final boss of the game. This results in Alex’s motivation as the entry’s protagonist for challenging Gill in the first place. He seeks to avenge what happened to his friend and father figure.

Of course, it’s worth highlighting that Patricia is Tom’s daughter. Due to the nature of these bonds, this would mean that Alex and Patricia are adoptive siblings to one another.

However, within the World Tour mode, Alex acknowledges the bond he has with Tom that goes beyond the title of “adoptive dad.”

“He taught me everything. The basics of strength training, most of my techniques and how to take a punch. He’s my cornerman nowadays when I have a match,” said Alex about Tom.

“He’s my trainer, my manager, my adoptive dad… No, he is my dad.” — Alex in Street Fighter 6

“He’s my trainer, my manager, my adoptive dad… No, he is my dad.”

This fits along with what the developers of Street Fighter 3 originally had in mind for Alex as revealed during a Q&A session with the developers of Street Fighter 3: New Generation.

“Does Alex think about his parents, who are no longer alive?” asked one question during the session.

“He occasionally thinks about his parents. However, there is no doubt that his real family is Tom and Patricia.”

If Alex truly sees Tom as just his “dad,” then it must mean that he also sees Patricia, Tom’s daughter, as his true sister, right? Well, we end up learning that Alex and Patricia have been wedded to one another as of Street Fighter 6.

Unfortunately, this isn’t the only update about Alex and Patricia’s relationship status that gets revealed during the events of Street Fighter 6. There is at least a possibility that the two may already share a blood connection.

“Tom took me in after my folks died. They passed pretty young,” said Alex about Tom during a conversation in the World Tour story mode.

“He’s a cousin of my mom and was a sparring buddy of my dad.”

This means that Patricia could be a “cousin sister” to Alex. While this might be more acceptable in Japanese culture, it’s certainly more frowned upon in the United States.

Ultimately, Capcom is a Japanese company, but it’s interesting to highlight that, canonically, Alex was born and raised in the United States.

Hidetoshi “Neo_G” Ishizawa, a notable planner for Street Fighter 3: Third Strike, expressed some surprise at this development for Alex in Street Fighter 6.

“I hadn’t gotten around to it yet, so I ended up peeking at Alex’s spoilers (it’s not like seeing the spoilers themselves is a problem — in fact, it’s helpful lol), but man, so that’s how it turned out,” said Ishizawa on X according to Google Translate.

“It wasn’t the ‘little sister treatment’ route, but the ‘childhood friend’ ending where they end up together, right? Well, yeah, I was definitely surprised like, ‘Oh, so that’s how they went with it — huh,’ lol.”

妹扱いのまま路線じゃなくて、幼馴染として結ばれる路線でしたね。
まあ確かにそうきたかー、と驚きましたけどw

Going back to that aforementioned Q&A session with the Street Fighter 3: New Generation developers, Alex and Patricia were originally intended to simply be brother and sister to one another.

“How does Alex feel about Tom’s daughter Patricia and how does Patricia feel about Alex?” asked a question during the Q&A session.

“She is like a real sister to Alex, and she loves him like an older brother.”

Based on all of this, the Street Fighter 6 developers have seemingly taken Alex’s story in a direction that was never expected by the Street Fighter 3 developers.
