Microsoft has shared a development update for Microsoft Flight Simulator at FSWeekend 2026, announcing City Update 14: The Netherlands and Belgium, Aircraft and Avionics Update 4 (AAU4), a number of aircraft updates for MSFS24 and a new Local Legend.
City Update 14: The Netherlands and Belgium
Microsoft has released City Update 14, delivering significant improvements to multiple cities across the Netherlands and Belgium in Microsoft Flight Simulator. The update is available now as a free download for all users on PC and Xbox.
Cities included are Antwerp, Blankenberge, Bruges in Belgium, and Eindhoven, Utrecht, Castle De Haar, Vinkeveen, Amsterdam, Schiphol, The Hague, Rotterdam and Kinderdijk in the Netherlands.

Aircraft and Avionics Update 4
Also announced was AAU4, a new update that will feature the AVIDYNE IFD 540 & 550, along with updates and improvements to several European Famous Flyers, Local Legends and Expert Series from MSFS20 in MSFS24. AAU4 is set to launch alongside Sim Update 5 in April 2026.
AVIDYNE IFD 540 & 550
Features include:
Drop-in replacement for the GNS 500 series navigators
Available to developers as Sim Attachments for very easy inclusion; modelling by partner FlightFX
AAU 04 will include new variants of the Cessna 172 Classic, including the Avidyne IFD
Two variants – IFD 540 and IFD 550; IFD 550 includes the Synthetic Vision option
Configurable automatic brightness for ease of use at all times of day
Full autopilot coupling support
Support for worldwide procedures, including SIDs, STARs and approaches
Full procedure previews can be displayed on the map and viewed in flight planning
Full Terrain Awareness (TAWS) simulation
Terrain is rendered realistically on the map
Visual and Aural TAWS alerts as appropriate
Complete charts integration, including light and dark modes
FAA procedure charts
LIDO procedure charts
Fuel Management pages and simulation, allowing pilots to monitor consumption, range and endurance
Configurable data blocks – allows the pilot to select what data will be shown on the margins





ATR42/72
Updates include career, passenger, VIP and cargo mode functionality, a full new CFB model, new variant (Air Tahiti HighLine), new liveries – Logan Air and Indigo, flight plan importation from MSFS24, LIDO charts, navigation and autopilot improvements, improved cabin camera and more.



Antonov AN2
Improvements include career, passenger, cargo, crop dusting, fire fighting, and sky diving mode functionality, fuel and electrical systems, new liveries, new windshield wiper functionality, EFB upgrades, checklists, new lighting, GPS and more.

Fokker F7
This plane has been significantly upgraded by iniBuilds (previously developed by Orbx), improvements include career, passenger and cargo mode functionality, flight model refinements and overall visual fidelity.



Latécoère 631
New features include a new fuselage, water effects, new propeller animations, and visible passengers.



Savoia-Marchetti S.55
This aircraft has also seen a number of updates to bring it up to MSFS24 standards.

Local Legend 23: Fokker F27 Friendship
Microsoft has released Local Legend 23, introducing the Fokker F27 Friendship to Microsoft Flight Simulator. The aircraft has been developed by iniBuilds and is now available via the in-sim Marketplace.
The Fokker F27 Friendship is one of the most successful turboprop airliners ever built, developed by Fokker in the 1950s as a modern replacement for piston-engine transports like the DC-3.
A selection of liveries is included, representing historic operators such as KLM and other international users of the aircraft. As with previous releases, the focus is on accessibility while maintaining authenticity, making it suitable for both casual and more experienced sim pilots.
