The game is a lot like Hollow Knight.
Both games share similar aesthetics, Metroidvania structure, hidden lore, and near identical release timelines. Gameplay wise they differ. Hollow Knight is more towards combat while Rain World is survival stealth with more complex AI. but both deliver the same punishing, atmospheric experience.
If you have completed both Hollow Knight and Silksong, Rain World is a must try!
