While Universes Beyond has taken MTG by storm, for many players, nothing will rival the experience of a classic in-universe set. Fortunately, those looking forward to a change from MTG x TMNT won’t have to wait much longer. Spoiler season for Secrets of Strixhaven has recently been confirmed to kick off on March 31st.

That said, while we aren’t quite seeing new cards yet, Wizards of the Coast is quietly setting the stage for what looks to be an incredible MTG storyline in Secrets of Strixhaven. Alongside a crazy storyline teasing alternate reality twists, a new Planeswalker was shockingly introduced out of nowhere.

The Mysterious and Macabre Delion

While there’s lots to see in the recent Magic Story Podcast episode, the introduction of Delion is undeniably the most interesting. This confirmed Planeswalker character is the youngest tenured professor in Strixhaven history, and appears to be a part of the Witherbloom Campus, but that’s not yet confirmed. Sadly, since the Secrets of Strixhaven story hasn’t started yet, we don’t know much more about this mysterious Planeswalker.

Needless to say, players are about the introduction of a new Planeswalker character, especially since this is the first new one since Kaito appeared in Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty. Releasing in February 2022, it’s been over four years since we’ve seen a new Planeswalker character in MTG. This is also the first Planeswalker that’s been introduced since the Desparking that occurred at the end of March of the Machines, which could have some interesting implications of its own.

Considering the heavy implications of a new Planeswalker appearing now, how Wizards of the Coast reveals Delion’s story will be extremely interesting. Fortunately, those interested in meeting Delion with more detail won’t need to wait much longer. With Secrets of Strixhaven stories starting next week, it’ll be interesting to see what role Delion ends up playing in the upcoming Reality Fracture. Until then, there’s plenty more detail to see in the Secrets of Strixhaven Magic Story Podcast episode.
