Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined

New data provided by Famitsu gives us a look at Japan’s best-selling games of February 2026.

Dragon Quest has long been popular in the country, so it’s no surprise that it’s the best-seller here and takes up the top three slots. On Nintendo platforms alone, it sold over 400,000 copies at retail. While it’s not in the top five, Mario Tennis Fever moved 54,099 units while the Nintendo Switch 2 version of Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties sold 18,929 copies.

Below is the full list of Japan’s best-selling games of February 2026:

Because of the success of Dragon Quest here, Square Enix was the top publisher with 594,000 units sold at retail. Nintendo is typically first, but settles for second this time around with 329,000 units.

One thing that’s stayed the same is Nintendo Switch 2 as the best-selling hardware of the month at 256,000 units. This is a drop from 453,433 in January, though that month was a few days longer and saw a sales boost from the New Year’s holiday. For those curious, Nintendo Switch sold 74,477 units.
