To my fellow PC lovers,
My computer may not be the oldest box out there – but she is a noble steed nonetheless.
In 2014 I built this PC from scratch, it was my third build.
Over the years it has seen thousands of hours of gaming, thousands of hours of music production, and thousands of hours of media streaming through DLNA and now Plex.
I've worked on this box, I've prepared my taxes on this box, I've edited tribute videos for my grandmother's funeral on this box.. it's seen it all.
Over the journey it's had:
– 1 graphics card upgrade
– 2 PSU replacements
– 3 HDD replacements (only the storage drives, never the OS SSD)
I just wanted to remind anyone out there that if you invest in a good build, treat it right, keep it clean, and show it some love that it is possible to get long life out of it.
Sure, I might not be banging out the latest AAA games – but this computer is reliable.
AMD FX8350 (overclocked it beyond 4ghz circa 2015-2016)
Asus Sabertooth 990FX
The other hardware is likely inconsequential to discuss.
Shoutouts to my best value build, here's to taking this thing as far as it can go!
