RIVERSIDE, Calif. – The Cal State Fullerton Titans women’s water polo team dropped a close game against future Big West foe No. 23 California Baptist University in a 13-11 loss on Saturday night at the Lancers Aquatic Center.
The Titans fell to 16-11 overall for the season.
Lotte Boxsem led the Titans with four goals in the match. Emme Doube-MacLeod and Sofia Moschetti each scored a brace. Destiny Hernandez, Mia Solorzano, and Kenzie Searle each scored a goal.
The Titans were down 6-3 after the first quarter. CBU scored twice before Boxsem scored the Titans first goal of the day to make it 2-1. CBU got one back before Doube-MacLeod scored to make it 3-2. The Lancers got two goals back before Sofia Moschetti scored to make it 5-3. The Lancers added another score just before the quarter ended.
The Titans won the second quarter 3-to-2. CBU scored twice to open the second quarter and an 8-3 lead. Lotte Boxsem scored twice along with Mia Solarzano to cut the lead to 8-6.
In the third quarter, CBU scored first to open up a 9-6 lead. The Titans got two goals back from Destiny Hernandez and Kenzie Searle to make it a 9-8 game after three.
The Lancers and Titans traded goals over the fourth period. CBU opened the scoring to start the quarter before Emme-Doube MacLeod scored to make it 10-9. The Lancers scored a penalty before Sofia Moschetti scored ot make it 11-10. The Lancers would score again before Lotte Boxsem scored her fourth to make it 12-11. The Lancers would add the final goal of the game to make it 13-11.
The Titans have just two games next week and they are both next Saturday. They’ll begin the day against Long Beach State at 12 PM before returning home to host Macalester for their penultimate game at 7:00.
