Extreme temperatures have forced game-time changes for Cincinnati Reds games in Arizona.Reds spring training games on both March 20 and 21 will move from day starts to night games because of the expected extreme heat.
GOODYEAR, AZ — The record March heat expected in the Phoenix area over the next week-plus has prompted MLB teams to move scheduled afternoon games back into the nighttime hours, including the Cincinnati Reds games March 20 and 21.
The Reds now have three local-time starts of 6:05 p.m. (9:05 EDT) in their final week in Arizona, including against the Chicago Cubs in Mesa on March 20 and at home in Goodyear against the Chicago White Sox on March 21.
Temperatures in the Phoenix area are expected to exceed 100 degrees earlier in the year than any year since data has been available.
The Reds break camp after their afternoon game on March 22, heading to Milwaukee for a pair of exhibition games ahead of their March 26 opener against the Boston Red Sox at Great American Ball Park.
