Producer also reveals just how soon it will be until the patch is released
Guilty Gear Strive version 2.00 is scheduled to be released sometime in 2026. Fans were recently told that the trailer for Guilty Gear Strive version 2.00 was set to debut at the Arc World Tour 2025-2026 Finale.
This trailer will also be giving us a sneak peek at the next character that will be joining Guilty Gear Strive. It’s widely speculated that Robo-Ky and Jam will be joining at some point, but a recent post now has fans speculating on how there might be room for a bunch of new additions as well.
The official Arc System Works social media account on X posted a screenshot of the new character select screen for version 2.00. Pressing L1 on the PlayStation version of the game will now enable a player to randomly select a fighter instead of their being a dedicated icon for that option.
One of the character slots has seemingly been replaced by a question mark. This slot sits between Lucy and Venom’s positions on the character select screen. Evidently, this is supposed to be the new fighter that will be shown in the upcoming trailer.
What’s most interesting about this screenshot is how there are now three rows of characters, increased from two. This leaves a lot of extra space on the left and right sides of the character select screen.
As such, fans are already speculating on what this could mean. After all, there’s now room for somewhere between 12 to 18 more fighters.
In a recent post, Ken Miyauchi, producer for Guilty Gear Strive, has also indicated that Guilty Gear Strive will be available to play before Evo Japan 2026. Notably, Evo Japan 2026 is scheduled to begin on May 1.
