After two closed beta tests last year, players had some significant concerns about the gameplay direction of Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls, and the developers were clearly listening.
Arc System Works recently revealed 10 pretty important changes they’ve made to Marvel Tokon based on fan feedback, and now we can see one of them in more detail.
Many of the mechanics being switched up are connected to the game’s assist and tag systems, which should change how the 4v4 fighting game actually feels in motion.
The team has now released a new video demonstration going into exactly what shift they’re trying out for tagging that should make players pretty happy.
Before, using the Member Switch mechanic would take 30 frames of animation, and ArcSys has now shortened that down to 20 frames.
10 frames may not sound like all that much to those less familiar with the genre, but that’s a big difference in fighting game time.
They cut it down from half a second to one-third, and the ramifications are on display in the video.
Players can now more easily and quickly switch between their team in the middle of a combo and potentially do so multiple times in places that were not possible before, or the speedier tags can lead to dirtier mixups and pressure setups, which should get the creative juices flowing.
Their post mentions how they want to improve the game tempo, and that seems to be the case here.
Following some of your feedback and to improve game tempo, we have changed the Member Switch animation from 30 frames to 20 frames, allowing for a smoother transition to the next character when tagging.

Earlier this week, they also showcased the ability to trigger assists from canceling attacks as well plus some gameplay of the new characters.
Players will be able to try out these new gameplay changes as well as the recently revealed Wolverine, Magik and Danger in an updated Marvel Tokon demo build at the Arc World Tour Finals this month and more events in the future.
Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls is currently scheduled to release on August 6, 2026 for the PlayStation 5 and PC.
We also put together a Marvel Tokon pre-order and pricing guide going over all of the different editions of the game that are available.
