Tottenham defender Micky van de Ven is facing a suspension after being sent off in the 3-1 loss to Crystal Palace.
On a night that started positively for Tottenham, taking the lead through Dominic Solanke just after the half hour mark, Van de Ven’s red card ultimately changed the game.

The Dutchman was given his marching orders four minutes later as he brought down Ismaila Sarr in the area with the Palace forward through on goal.
Referee, Andy Madley, wasted little time in assessing the situation before brandishing a straight red card and with that, the Spurs vice-captain headed straight down the tunnel.
Van de Ven was giving his marching orders because of the denial of an obvious goalscoring opportunity ruling, which is crucial with regards to the length of his suspension.

Spurs interim head coach Igor Tudor opted to take off Souza and Randal Kolo Muani in response to the red card, bringing on Yves Bissouma and Conor Gallagher in an attempt to shore up the midfield and provide extra protection to the defence.
Those decisions would backfire on the Tottenham boss as Palace took full advantage of the extra man, with Sarr converting the resulting penalty and then scoring another before the break after Jorgen Strand Larsen had put the visitors in front.
The result leaves Spurs a point above the relegation zone and while captain Cristian Romero has served his four-game ban, his usual central defensive partner is now suspended.

How many Tottenham games will Micky van de Ven miss?
Due to Van de Ven being sent off for denying an obvious goalscoring opportunity, he will only have to serve a one-game suspension.

Had he been dismissed for violent conduct, then a minimum three-match ban would have been his punishment.
But in this case, Van de Ven will be unavailable for selection in Tottenham’s next Premier League fixture which is against Liverpool at Anfield on March 15.
This means he will be back for the crucial home game against Nottingham Forest a week later and he can feature in against Atletico Madrid on Tuesday night as domestic suspension do not carry over into the European competitions.
