Key features of this ViprTch Overlord Wood gaming PC
RTX 5050 graphics card
If you’re looking at 50-series prebuilds, but you’re sticking to a budget of under $1,000, then the RTX 5050 is going to be the best graphics card to go for. It’s the entry-level into the 50-series, and a little different from the rest of the lineup, in the way that it doesn’t feature GDDR7, but rather an improved version of GDDR6. It has 8GB of this and 2,560 CUDA cores, which makes it good for 1080p gaming at high fps, especially if you’re playing modern AAA esports titles. To boost performance, it has features like MFG, which can help when playing more demanding titles, but this card is designed more with high fps and 1080p in mind at an accessible price point.
AMD Ryzen 7 3700X processor
This AM4 processor is an excellent, cost-effective option to have in an RTX 5050 prebuild, boasting 8 cores and 16 threads for solid multitasking performance, and a 4.4GHz boost clock with a large 32MB L3 cache. For FHD and QHD gaming, it’s very good, and you will have no problem pushing out high fps at the RTX 5050’s target resolution of 1080p. The only slight downside is that it’s built on an older socket, so you don’t have as clear a runway for upgrades in the future. It may not be the absolute best CPU on the market, but it’s a great pick for the RTX 5050, and that’s what matters.
RAM and storage
Quite modest here, as expected, but enough for most people. This build has 16GB of DDR4, which is fine for the type of gaming this PC is designed for, and not bad for overall system responsiveness. It has a 1TB SSD, which, again, is fine for most, especially if you plan on storing just a handful of AAA games on it.
Things to consider
So this is all about budget, really, and how strict you want to be at sticking under $1,000. Personally, I reckon it’s worth upping your budget by around $100 to get something with an RTX 5060, which is going to be superior for FHD gaming, and have the all-important GDDR7 VRAM, too. Going a touch higher, to around the $1,200 mark, will get you an RTX 5060 Ti prebuild, which would be my personal choice if I were looking for something very capable for FHD at high settings, and also decent for QHD, too.
