FAIRFAX, Va. – After a five-game stretch on the road, George Mason softball (5–9) returns home to Fairfax to face the Georgetown Hoyas (5–4) at the GMU Softball Complex on Wednesday, March 4. First pitch is set for 1 p.m. and admission is free for all attendees.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
The Hoyas are coming off a 2–3 series win against the Drexel Dragons, capped by a 4-3 victory in 10 innings in their most recent game. By the end of the third inning, the game was tied 2-2. Six scoreless innings followed before Drexel pushed across a run in the top of the 10th. The Hoyas answered with two runs in the bottom half of the inning to secure the 4-3 victory.
Emily Strittmatter leads the Hoyas with a .400 batting average, 12 hits, three doubles, one home run, and seven RBIs. Claire Turner has scored a team-leading seven runs. In the circle, the Hoyas carry a 3.30 team ERA. Catherine Larson leads the staff with a 1.99 ERA over 24.2 innings pitched. Boasting a 2–0 record, Larson has recorded two shutouts.
LAST TIME OUT
Last week, the Patriots fell to the nationally ranked Virginia Cavaliers before dropping all four games at the Paladin Invitational. The Patriots were outscored 41-22 over the five-game stretch.
Despite the losses, Logan Pickford had an impressive week. Pickford hit home runs in back-to-back games on February 28, including two home runs in a game against Winthrop. Over five games, Pickford posted a .526 on-base percentage and a 1.143 slugging percentage, tallying seven runs, five hits, four RBIs, and two stolen bases.
