I like the Egged camo a lot, personally!
The devs don't exactly do the best job with these events (clearly 👽) and a vocal part of the fanbase understandably do not enjoy these leaderboard events but in general, competing is fun! I learned that solo and Fate of Fortune is definitely the way to go. Dead Ops has been really exciting (and overstimulating) to me since Cold War.
Whoever believes that starting late nearly guarantees a win is wrong based on some comments I've seen that attest to the opposite, and I don't see a proven correlation between start time and success. I started on Day 1 and ran Dead Ops three times total for this event. I'm pretty sure the list we end up on is as chaotic as all other aspects of COD games. I started the Mars event halfway through the event too and got the animated camo. I'm pretty sure it's just random.
