Created by the Japanese startup Tsubame Industries, the ARCHAX is a pilotable robotic mecha that looks like it came straight out of the anime Mobile Suit Gundam. After four years of development, the result is an imposing machine 4.5 meters tall and weighing 3.5 tons, made of an iron and aluminum structure with a fiber-reinforced plastic (FRP) coating, the same material used in F1 cars. The name is a tribute to Archaeopteryx, one of the first prehistoric birds

Currently it's just a luxury toy, but the company responsible has ambitious plans for the future, including rescue operations in hard-to-reach places and lunar exploration.
