March 1, 2026-The weather was the big winner on Sunday as Emporia State Softball had two games wiped out due to the conditions in Shawnee, Kan. at the Midwest College Classic.
The Hornets game with Minnesota State that was scheduled for 2:40 p.m. was canceled in the morning due to the forecast of rain and falling temperatures. Emporia State and Minnesota-Duluth began their game at 11:45 a.m. but were called off the field due to lightning before it could become a regulation game. The conditions did not allow for the game to continue so it was ruled a no contest.
The next action for Emporia State will be their home opener on Sunday, August 8 against Augustana. First pitch of the double header from the Trusler Sports Complex is set for 1:00 p.m.
