It’s been announced by Sega that a new demo for Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. World Stage is set to be released on March 26, 2026. This demo will be available for the Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series — all of the modern consoles.
Additionally, a new balance patch is set to be available on March 26, 2026. The upcoming update will provide battle system adjustments and tweaks to individual characters in order to further improve the user experience of the game.
Needless to say, it truly is astounding that Virtua Fighter 5 is still receiving updates that affect the balance of the game considering that it’s been nearly 20 years since the game was released into the arcades on July 12, 2006.
Sega is continuing to support the game with the Virtua Fighter Open Championship 2026 global tour. Players will be able to compete in this circuit during events like Evo Japan, Combo Breaker, Evo, Battle Arena Melbourne, Community Effort Orlando, Ragnarok and more.
No doubt that Sega is continuing to promote Virtua Fighter 5 since they have a new Virtua Fighter project currently in development. Evidently, Sega is returning to the fighting game community in a big way.
For now, the release date for the new Virtua Fighter project remains unknown. The only characters revealed for the game thus far are Akira Yuki, Stella (a Sarah Bryant lookalike newcomer) and Wolf Hawkfield.
