Sagat and C. Viper have already been released for Season 3 of Street Fighter 6. Alex is set to join next on March 17, 2026. Ingrid will then round out the season in late spring when she gets released.
As we’re approaching the end of Season 3 for Street Fighter 6, some fans have already begun to speculate on Season 4 announcements. BST|Daigo Umehara was recently asked about which characters he’d be excited to see join the fight.
“My wish list? I don’t have one. Honestly, anyone would be fine,” responded Daigo.
“There’s really no one that’d make me go ‘OMG! So-and-so is here! Let’s go!’ Actually, maybe there is…”
After thinking about it for a moment, Daigo noted that he’d be pretty hyped if Yun were to get announced. Notably, Yun was a dominant character in Street Fighter 3: Third Strike and parts of Street Fighter 4’s meta after he was added starting with Street Fighter 4: Arcade Edition.
Following this, Daigo also mentioned Urien, Geese (from SNK’s Fatal Fury series) and Goutetsu (the deceased master of Gouken and Akuma) as characters that would leave him elated.
On the other end of the spectrum, Daigo talked about fighters that would essentially just be a “buzzkill” for him if they got announced.
“Charlie Nash would be a big buzzkill,” said Daigo. “It’s be like ‘… Huh!? You do know that Dee Jay and Guile are already in the game, right?'”
Daigo also mentioned that he wouldn’t be too happy if El Fuerte joined Street Fighter 6. He mentions how El Fuerte isn’t very “communicative,” referencing the character’s emphasis on mix ups and vortex set play in Street Fighter 4.
At first, Daigo was also against the idea of seeing Sodom return. This is mostly due to how Sodom has been, according to Daigo, a “historically notorious garbage character.”
However, Daigo sort of flipped his stance on Sodom since it could potentially mean that we might see Sodom without his mask. Daigo then came up with a silly background story that Sodom’s mask could be cursed (as the cause of his status as a low tier in previous games).
