For as many popular and iconic franchises and IP that Warner Bros. has access to, its gaming efforts have been rather lacking. For every Hogwarts Legacy or Batman Arkham Knight, there’s been Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League and MultiVersus.

However, Warner Bros. expects that tune to change as soon as next year and into 2028, as its “biggest” gaming franchises will return.

In an interview with Variety, Warner Bros. Discovery’s leaders, David Zaslav and JB Perrette, discussed all facets of WBD’s business, including its gaming division, where 2025 is being seen as a “year of reset,” due, in part, to the organization getting “distracted going after too many IPs with too broad a set of studios.”

The Nemesis System is likely locked up until 2036.

Perrette, however, maintains that brighter days are still to come.

“The real fruits will start coming in ’27–’28, when we return to some of our biggest franchises,” he said.
